Listol For ADHD: A Natural Treatment
Review By Dr. Emily Kensington
Listol was created as a non-toxic alternative to commonly prescribed amphetamine-based stimulants that are typically prescribed for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, otherwise known as ADD or ADHD. As a doctor who treats ADHD and as the mother of a son with ADHD, I am familiar with it both as a concerned parent and healthcare provider. Thus far, I can report positive feedback regarding the medication. This dietary supplement contains magnesium, calcium, vitamin B6, iron, zinc, DMAE and GABA powder. They are all natural neurotransmitter boosters that contribute to overall brain functioning and are also natural soothing agents. Many sufferers of Attention Deficit Disorder frequently take them all as individual supplements, but this handy supplement combines them all into one pill for the sake of convenience. Deficiencies in all of the above mentioned nutrients are known to contribute to the negative symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
In fact, studies indicate that children with the most severe deficiencies in iron and magnesium were also the most inattentive, impulsive, and hyperactive. Specifically, low iron stores may explain as much as 30% of ADHD severity. Some sees results immediately after taking it, but it may take a month or two before the full benefits are realized. Medications affect everyone differently depending on the individual. As a result, there is often a bit of trial and error involved in finding the most effective balance for each individual. I have yet to hear or read about any negative side effects with this drug, but it is always wise to consult with your doctor before taking any medication, particularly if you suffer from any pre-existing conditions. Another large benefit of this supplement is that it has no addictive properties or withdrawal symptoms unlike amphetamine-based stimulants such as Ritalin.
