The Best ADHD Books

I highly recommend the ADHD books listed above. As a doctor who specializes in treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and as the mother of a son with ADHD, they have proved helpful in both my personal and clinical life.

I consider them must reads for parents of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder because parents are in charge of treating their children, and they set the tone in the household.

In short, parents are at the forefront of managing this challenging condition. As a result, their role is paramount. Parents of children with ADHD should make it a priority to learn as much about the condition as they possibly can. This enables them to better manage and improve what can often be a chaotic family life, as many parents of children with ADHD can attest.

Being forewarned is being forearmed. Knowing what to expect and learning how to manage the condition is the best thing parents can do for their child.

In addition, I cannot forget the adult sufferers of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, so I included books for them. Generally speaking, adults will have different challenges and needs than children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This includes managing money, maintaing a job, maintaining a household, managing relationships and marriages, and parenting challenges.

Furthermore, adults with ADHD also run an increased risk of developing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety disorders, and run an increased risk of developing substance abuse and addiction. Therefore, they need to be extra vigilant regarding the potential warning signs of these conditions.
